East Austin Area Map East Austin has experienced a construction boom in recent years, a bittersweet fact for the predominantly African American and Latino residents who depend on the affordable housing and rich community life the area offers. With investment in roads, homes, and business come higher property values, but also the higher taxes that could ultimately change the make up of East Austin.
